Banks

HSBC

149 Rushey Green, London SE6 4BQ, UK – 0345 740 4404

Helpful and very friendly staff. The store is very small but it has everything you could need from it.

Quite often busy if you need the counter, but otherwise there are machines and staff are helpful. Small branch but has everything you need.

Lloyds Bank

120, Molesworth St, Lewisham High St, London SE13 6JG, UK – 0345 300 0000

I tried to open a bank account here and it was painful. I got mixed information from different staff and wasted time and patience. But at the same time, I got some apparently genuine sorry from a senior attendant after they finally accepted my application. They should be more welcoming to new clients. Hopefully, I will never need to go back to the branch and use services online.

Good service all the time

HSBC

85 Lewisham High St, London SE13 6BE, UK – 0345 740 4404

Very helpful and polite staff. Opened up a new bank account for me within minutes and explained me everything in detail.

Very helpful staff. I had to withdraw quite a large amount of money and got it immediately.

Lewisham Town Hall

1 Catford Rd, London SE6 4RU, UK – 020 8314 6000

Late 60's municipal complex in a surprisingly good state of repair. Unlike so many contemporary developments of that era the building has defied the ravages of time with a minimum of deterioration. A Statue by Gerda Rubinstein near the entrance.

Dental Surgeries

Lewisham Dental Practice

8-12 Lee High Rd, London SE13 5LQ, UK – 020 8852 3000

My experience with Lewisham dental is very good. Well received at the reception with friendly and smiley faces. Dentist is great keeps you at ease and friendly as well. Only negative was waiting way past my appointed time slot. Also, when cleaning teeth, I've had water dripping down my face. It's happened twice now through no fault of the dentist but rather, his assistant. He was very apologetic. But overall service, is very good👌👌

Took my son to this dental practice and the doctor was very good with him given the fact the previous doctor in a different practice we were before seemed not to be able to deal with my yang lad which really did not go well with my wife. So kudos for the Lewisham dental practice. Great service.

Rushey Green Dental Practice

Best practice I've ever been to. The staff are really friendly and professional.

Belmont Park Dental Care

4 Belmont Park, London SE13 5BJ, UK – 020 8297 0053

I have been a patient at your centre for over 10 years and most generally my experience has been good. That said I have never actually taken the time to communicate my thanks and commendation to your team for the work done. Last year I had an experience with your practice manager Nicola that left me feeling incredibly impressed and I had made up my mind to write to the practice owner. Please forgive me that it’s taken me almost a year to do so. I was booked in to see one of the hygienist but I missed the appointment as I had the head of state from Jamaica whose lateness torpedoed my schedule. This meant I was liable for the relevant fine as I had missed another appointment in the past which I had conveniently forgotten about. In my process of protesting the fine I asked to speak to the practice manager, by the time I had finished the call I embraced the fact that I was in the wrong. What was most impressive for me was the manner, tone and professionalism with which Nicola the practice manager handled me. She was firm, fair and incredibly consistent in our conversation. I have worked in many areas with people and I know that many would have become quite irritated by my questions and challenge. I’m sure you already know how good your staff are and I’m sure you’re happy with their work but I thought it was worth bringing Nicola’s first class customer service to your attention. She was an absolute star and even though I was paying a fine I didn’t want to pay I was left feeling like a valued patient. Please extend my warmest regards to Nicola

5 star care. Friendly reception staff and a well run practice. I had a bridge fitted due to my front tooth breaking. Excellent care from dentist and nurse. I came for a checkup today after a year and very happy that my teeth are now healthy! I would certainly recommend them!

Dr Y D Malik

32 Chinbrook Rd, London SE12 9TH, UK – 020 3640 2090

Been registered at this practice for 5 years now and have found the doctors and reception staff really nice and most importantly, they listen to you. The only down side is that it can take ages to get a regular appointment to see a doctor and also the surgery is closed on Wednesdays.

Parkview Surgery Health Care Centre

186 Brownhill Rd, London SE6 1AT, UK – 020 8698 6566

I would give this practice 3.5 stars. The doctors are helpful. I came to see a nurse who was very friendly and helped me understand my issue. Sometimes you have to wait long for an appointment. But they also offer extended access at Lewisham which is very helpful.

As much as the doctors are great, trying to get my baby an appointment is tiring work. I call countless times over an hour or two from the moment the line is open and the phone is busy, until I eventually get through and there are no appointments left. Today there aren't even appointments at the Lewisham hospital extended GP service which is supposed to be there overhang if they are fully booked. I thought a child under 5 is supposed to get an appointment on the day by law? I guess not! I am sadly looking to move from this surgery, trying to manage an upset ill baby while calling repeatedly is just too difficult and takes time away from care you could be giving your child at home, when you only end up with an appointment 4 days later it hardly seems worth calling. Self-prescribing and a trip to the pharmacist for their suggestions is often my first port of call now but when they say to make an appointment with the doctor, I dread it. Waiting at a&e as the often suggested route when we fail to get an appointment, doesn't always feel like the road you want to take, as at home your baby can rest better. I had hoped for more, but is this the whole of the nhs being over-subscribed and not just a problem at this surgery?

South Lewisham Health Centre

50 Conisborough Cres, London SE6 2SS, UK – 020 3049 2580

I found them generally supportive and have helped me in the right way I hope that alll gps one day will be able to proscribe naltrexone as it’s a medication that has saved my life due to battling with addiction and I had to be referred to get it !! Not the gps fought it’s just due to lack of knowledge thos that battle with addiction and find AA a struggle or smart recovery check out the sinclear method it may help you with your battle with alcoholism these gps have been amazing support and so has Andrew hong !!! Looks at the C3 Foundation Europe and options saves life’s !!! It’s changing mine thankfully now I need some sycalogical support to help !!! But I know the gps are generally great and help the best they can

This GP is hit or miss. Difficult to get appointments as always busy, however lately it's easier as you can book Online in advances. Some of the doctors don't know what they are talking about and search on Google for a solution to the problem. However some doctors are really great.

NHS Direct is now NHS 24. Just dial 111 to speak to a professional or click the link below for there self help website. Lots of really useful info but keep clear of heart surgery! If in doubt ask your GP or call 111. Good luck.

BMI The Blackheath Hospital

I had 2 operations on the eyes in this hospital. Both Operations were performed by Dr. Whitefield. The operations went really well, the staff was kind and helpful and I'm really happy with the results.

I have been here many time's before and what can I say, what an establishment! The staff are all amazing and this hospital has some of the best doctor's working here in the world. Would recommend to anyone!

The Ladywell Unit

University Hospital Lewisham, Lewisham High St, London SE13 6LW, UK – 020 3228 0200

I have read the never ending list of bad reviews and felt compelled to publicise my experience thus far. My Mother was taken into Hayworth Ward under section 2 MHA. From the out set the Doctors Social Workers Nurses and her Consultant could not have been more caring and helpful. I was kept updated regularly by her Consultant who took time to discuss her meds and her care. Every time I called the ward the phone was answered quickly and politely and the Nurses also took time to answer my questions. I can honestly say I cant thank them enough for the excellent job they all do. They work long and hard hours and are underpaid and often not appreciated... a huge thanks from me and my family for all your help....

unbelievable level of help free of charge- thankyou

Local Restaurants & Places to Eat around Catford

Levante

11 Lewis Grove, London SE13 6BG, UK – 020 8355 3522

Great and quick service, really nice staff. Delicious food, fresh ingredients, just like eating in Turkey. They give you olives and bread first thing and Turkish tea on the house and one baklava. I would just turn the music volume down a bit or choose a more relaxing one. But great experience overall. Highly recommend I would definitely come back again

The best Turkish place for miles. Excellent meat and grills. Plus the waitress is smoking hot hot hot 😓

Mekan

13 Bromley Rd, Catford, London SE6 2TS, UK – 020 7998 1598

Amazing food! So tasty, sweet and spicy. Such a variety and humongous portions. The area was clean and spacious for a small restaurant. There is a club downstairs but you cannot hear noise or any disturbance from upstairs. The atmosphere is buzzing and happy. The staff, male and female, are all very good looking 😉 and are very pleasant and eager to help in any way. Will definitely go back very soon! 😁

My parents had a wonderful 50th anniversary at this lovely restaurant. The staff are really lovely and made our experience an excellent one.

Sicilian Art Pizzeria

188 High St, London SE20 7QB, UK – 020 8778 3120

I fancied a Takeway Pizza, didn't want the normal High Street ones, I wanted something more authentic, Googled local Italian Restaurants and found this one, so glad I did. I ordered for collection and was told it would be ready in 10 minutes, it was. When entering the Restaurant, although quite small, the decor was great and the staff were very friendly, more importantly the pizza was delicious. Next time it won't be a takeaway, I can't wait to go back and try some of the food from their menu, (it looks great) and very reasonably priced. I also want to soak up the atmosphere of the place, when walking in it felt like I was on holiday with the quirkiness of the Restaurant's interior, I only went for a takeaway but the whole experience impressed me, in the future in will be a dine in.

Lovely cosy restaurant, amazing food, friendly staff. Highly recommended. Very nice for families, we can with a 2 month old and were accommodated well! Recommend booking in advance and mentioning you are bringing children. Very popular!

Horizons Day Nursery & Pre-School

165 Hither Green Ln, Lewisham, London SE13 6QF, UK – 020 8318 4125

My daughter attends and we couldn’t be happier. Nice friendly nursery. Daughter really enjoys going.

To all the mums that are out there, looking for a nursery. My 2.5 years-old daughter now spent the last 1Y3M at Horizons Day Nursery and I can only highly recommend it to all parents in the area. She goes 8am-6pm every day Mon-Fri and has always been provided with extremely good care. She has a very good bond with all the members of staff, other children as well and I regularly get to hear about the activities she's done over the day in the evenings by her. Yoga, dancing, reading, mark making, playing with sand, Spanish are only part of the activities they engage children with at this nursery on a daily basis. She's developed her cognitive skills fairly well for her age, counting to 20 and singing the alphabet these days. She's also toilet trained and a easily a full week goes by without any accidents. Overall I'm very happy with the engagement of the staff with the children, and all the above feedback is a result of that!

Grove Park Pre-School

353 Baring Rd, London SE12 0EE, UK – 020 8857 8258

Primary and Secondary Schools

Trinity Primary School

Leahurst Rd, London SE13 5HZ, UK – 020 8325 4551

A really great school. All teachers are involved in children's learning and head teacher are very creative and down to earth.

I couldn't ask for a more excellent and outstanding school for my children. Teachers work exceptionally hard to encourage the best out of pupils. Weekly home learning, reading books, maths and spelling tests are great fun!

Prendergast Ladywell School

Manwood Road, London Area, London SE4 1SA, UK – 020 8690 1114

Is a really big place

Nice school. Not perfect, but I find that you are supported by everyone in school, ranging from classmates, to friends, to teachers. You always know where to go for help and you can get it. The school also allows you to be independent but never lets you suffer in silence. The only reason why I wouldn't give PLFC 5 stars is because I think that the school building could be improved, as it is not very appealing and quite dull looking, but this is of course not a massive factor in how well a student learns and performs. I can't think of a single teacher I dislike.

Prendergast Vale School

Elmira Street, Prendergast Vale, London SE13 7BN, UK – 020 8297 3540

The school is improving all the time. Good leadership and direction, very happy.

Public & Preparatory Schools

Riverston School

63-69 Eltham Rd, London SE12 8UF, UK – 020 8318 4327

Our son has been attending this school since reception and is now in year 6. The personal approach by staff and individual learning plan applied to our son has tremendously benefitted him. He has made lovely friends and we feel that the small family feel is a ideal environment for both educational and social development for children.

There needs to be more choice of gcses because when I picked my options there were only 4 options for gcse and the rest were btec. Riverston is not a bad school just needs some work.

St Dunstans College

Stanstead Rd, London SE6 4TY, UK – 020 8516 7200

Takes time to get adjusted to the environment, initially I found the first year at this school difficult. Things have changed now but overall the lessons are quite monotonous to have every week the teachers are relatively kind and the behavior isn’t that bad school does have high expectations and fantastic facilities (swimming pool and a gym) which I believe most students are too ignorant to appreciate
