Blythe Hill Tavern

319 Stanstead Road, London, Greater London SE23 1JB, UK – 020 8690 5176

What a great place. Lovely staff. Extensive cider and craft ale selection. Big beer garden at back. Very child friendly. And on the Friday we visited it had a yummy street food van selling gourmet pizza. Whats not to love about it!?!

Great suburban pub. Nice friendly staff and a good selection of reasonably price ales. Will go in again when in the area.

The Dartmouth Arms

7 Dartmouth Rd, Forest Hill, London SE23 3HN, UK – 020 8488 3117

Having lived in Forest Hill for several years now, the Dartmouth Arms has delivered high quality food without fail. By far the best restaurant/pub in the area. Sunday lunch is freshly cooked (not bought-in an re-heated like the other pubs in the area). Best crackling I had in years :-) The food in general is always delicious and there's a good selection, seasonally adjusted. Highly recommend it And the staff is great too: friendly, welcoming and yet professional without any attitude. It's always a great pleasure to go there!

Love visiting The Dartmouth. The staff are always friendly and attentive. The beers and wine are reasonably priced and offer a great varied choice. The Cotes du Rhone Rose perfect for summer, the house red Grenache so easy to drink and the Vinho Verde so refreshing and light. The food consistently excellent with an interesting and varied menu. This place rocks!

The Honor Oak Pub

1 St German's Rd, Forest Hill, London SE23 1RH, UK – 020 8690 9222

This pub is a touch on the pricey side but worth it imo. The food is excellent and the cheese board very satisfying, not just the quality but also the quantity! Great outside space both to the front and the rear. Service has always been excellent and very quick.

Great local, lots of space, great food. And a comedy club as well. Definitely worth keeping an eye out for what's happening there, or even just for the chicken wings.

Levante

11 Lewis Grove, London SE13 6BG, UK – 020 8355 3522

Great and quick service, really nice staff. Delicious food, fresh ingredients, just like eating in Turkey. They give you olives and bread first thing and Turkish tea on the house and one baklava. I would just turn the music volume down a bit or choose a more relaxing one. But great experience overall. Highly recommend I would definitely come back again

The best Turkish place for miles. Excellent meat and grills. Plus the waitress is smoking hot hot hot ๐Ÿ˜“

Mekan

13 Bromley Rd, Catford, London SE6 2TS, UK – 020 7998 1598

Amazing food! So tasty, sweet and spicy. Such a variety and humongous portions. The area was clean and spacious for a small restaurant. There is a club downstairs but you cannot hear noise or any disturbance from upstairs. The atmosphere is buzzing and happy. The staff, male and female, are all very good looking ๐Ÿ˜‰ and are very pleasant and eager to help in any way. Will definitely go back very soon! ๐Ÿ˜

My parents had a wonderful 50th anniversary at this lovely restaurant. The staff are really lovely and made our experience an excellent one.

Sicilian Art Pizzeria

188 High St, London SE20 7QB, UK – 020 8778 3120

I fancied a Takeway Pizza, didn't want the normal High Street ones, I wanted something more authentic, Googled local Italian Restaurants and found this one, so glad I did. I ordered for collection and was told it would be ready in 10 minutes, it was. When entering the Restaurant, although quite small, the decor was great and the staff were very friendly, more importantly the pizza was delicious. Next time it won't be a takeaway, I can't wait to go back and try some of the food from their menu, (it looks great) and very reasonably priced. I also want to soak up the atmosphere of the place, when walking in it felt like I was on holiday with the quirkiness of the Restaurant's interior, I only went for a takeaway but the whole experience impressed me, in the future in will be a dine in.

Lovely cosy restaurant, amazing food, friendly staff. Highly recommended. Very nice for families, we can with a 2 month old and were accommodated well! Recommend booking in advance and mentioning you are bringing children. Very popular!

Chinese Restaurants serving the Catford area

Eastern Queen

Always a pleasure to visit here. Excellent food and a very warm welcome.

Quality food. Professional and friendly staff. Lovely environment and atmosphere. Great for family or romantic night. Love it.

Fortune Inn Noodle Bar

63B Dartmouth Rd, Forest Hill, London SE23 3HN, UK – 020 8699 6868

I like their food and they has a really nice customer service, but I didn't like the chilly oil. Not spicy enough for me.

Not the best quality food but reasonably priced

Tai Won Mein

90-92 Rushey Green, London SE6 4HW, UK – 020 8690 8238

Lively and pleasant interior - a surprise find in a somewhat dingy high street! Large tables and lots of families on a Sunday afternoon. Clearly a favourite with locals. Portions are generous and service is satisfactory. We had the beef fried noodles and it was spot-on. Fresh and delicious.

This restaurant offers one of the best Chinese cuisine that I've tasted in a 5 mile radius. At times their food do tend to be slightly oily, but I can live with it. The food quantity provided is great too. There's paid public parking available at the rear of the building.

Indian Restaurants and takeaways in or near Catford

Madhuwan Restaurant

20-22 Bromley Hill, Bromley BR1 4JX, UK – 020 8466 7431

Wonderful place, great food and atmosphere. Lovely and tranquil, it's so nice to go somewhere without having to listen to someone's screaming unruly kids

Great atmosphere if you get a booth, very romantic. Was really impressed with the food as well. Had the vegetarian curry which was full of all sorts of fresh vegetables like okra not just the frozen stuff that take aways and some places typically use.

Babur

119 Brockley Rise, Forest Hill, London SE23 1JP, UK – 020 8291 2400

Oh what a place! Delicious food, great mood and very very friendly staff! Do not hesitate to book a table! Perfect for dates or small groups.

Cannot recommend Babur highly enough... everything we ate was absolutely delicious and the service was brilliant (Iโ€™m 7 months pregnant and they brought me a cushion to make me more comfortable without me even asking!) canโ€™t wait for the next visit

Gurkha Restaurant

67 Sydenham Rd, Sydenham, London SE26 5UA, UK – 020 8778 3322

Love this place. Great service everyone and great food for good price.

The food is excellent. The decor is very simple but somehow with grand furniture features. Very quick service also.

Italian Pasta and Pizza Restaurants

ASK Italian

2 Bromley Rd, Beckenham BR3 5JE, UK – 020 3802 6610

It was my first visit to Ask Italian, on a meal out with friends, and it really was superb! The menu was excellent and catered for people with food intolerances as well as vegetarians and vegans - which took the strain out of finding somewhere able to satisfy everyone in our party's dietary needs. Our waitress was excellent - friendly and welcoming - nothing was too much trouble. The rest of the staff were great too. We will definitely be going back there!

Good service but wasnt very busy so not sure what it would be like when busy. Varied menu reasonably prices

Luciano's

131 Burnt Ash Rd, Lee, London SE12 8RA, UK – 020 8852 3186

Very reasonably priced, nice atmosphere Good size portions Good. Food

Superb! Lasagna is fresh! Lobster linguine is light & full of flavour

Le Querce

66 Brockley Rise, London SE23 1LN, UK – 020 8690 3761

Family run restaurant. Food is absolutely great and prepared with much care by the Michelin starred owner and chef. I will return to celebrate my husband's 50th birthday.

I feel a bit mean voting this as 3 stars... the food was great and they catered well for children, but the atmosphere wasn't great for us. Service ok but a bit slow. I think possibly on a different visit I could have rated them more.

Vegetarian or Vegan Restaurants

The Saffron Club

39 Tranquil Vale, Blackheath, London SE3 0BU, UK – 020 8297 1071

Solid choice for an Indian cuisine in the Blackheath area. Food was of really good quality and not very greasy like most. I thought the portion sizes were quite small but I felt quite full after the meal! My only negative was that I thought the chicken bhutwa was lacking seasoning. My wifeโ€™s curry was spot on though (I finished hers off!). They nailed the garlic naan too.

Very clean, professional interior and great staff. Food of course is the most important and it ticked all the right boxes. I had the Lamb Bhutuwa curry and it was flavorful with great contrasts. The lamb was also very well prepared and not gamey, which can be off putting for some. If there are any negatives (certainly not negative enough in my book to warrant removing a star) is that they don't really offer any desserts and they didn't have mango lassi. Your mileage may vary on how this may affect your experience but it didn't affect mine.

Gurkha Restaurant

67 Sydenham Rd, Sydenham, London SE26 5UA, UK – 020 8778 3322

Wine Bars and Cocktail Bars

Mordens

7-9 Montpelier Vale, Blackheath, London SE3 0TA, UK – 020 8852 0492

Had a great evening for a family members birthday wicked music and lovely atmosphere

Really nice atmosphere, had a great evening, got very busy around 11.30.

The Signal Pub

7 Devonshire Rd, Forest Hill, London SE23 3HE, UK – 020 3326 9300

Very good pub, can't fault it. Food was quite nice and it's very community based. Very close to the train station can't go wrong.

Went here for fish and chips, fish and chips both good, BUT, in my humble opinion, mushy peas are needed. The shot of lukewarm pea soup on the side simply will not suffice. Felt like bobbing to the chippy next door to rectify situation, did not in the end. Creepy puppet also watched me eat.
